New Pattern - Adult Bib

Since I drive around all day seeing homebound patients I usually eat while driving. My husband makes me wonderful lunches that I can eat with one hand, but still I usually end up wearing some of my lunch and having to explain why I have a big stain on my clothes. For this reason I made myself a large bib that is easy on/off and protects my clothes all the way down to my knees.

Add a tie and have a handy apron
Cut out to finish time is 30 minutes
Great charity project for groups to make
Make them extra special with embroidery or fancy trims

Materials Needed:
3/4 yard 45” wide fabric (I used pre-quilted fabric)
2 pkgs extra wide double fold bias tape
True Grid by Pellon - for drawing the pattern

Draw the pattern as shown in the illustration. I drew these on True Grid where each square is 1inch.

Next draw the neck opening.
Make it 5x7 for a smaller person and 6x9 for a larger person.

Now use your dinner plates, saucers, etc to draw the curves.

Draw the lines for the pocket as indicated by the dashed line.
Your finished pattern should look like this

Optional Apron: Add grosgrain ribbon ties as indicated in the diagram.

Optional: Cutline for velcro closure if you do not want a pull over the head version.

Cut out the pattern.
Lay the pattern onto the fabric - across the grain on the fabric

Cut out the fabric across the grain of the fabric.
Cut out the pocket across the grain of the fabric.

Zigzag stitch bias tape across the top of the pocket.
Straight stitch sew the pocket to the apron across the bottom and sides.
Zigzag sew bias tape around the neck opening.
Zigzag sew bias tape all the way around the bib.
Straight stitch sew a line down the center of the pocket.

All done!
