What is that?
It literally means machine embroidery combined with punch embroidery.
Punch embroidery has been around for many years. Punch embroidery is amazingly fast and easy to do. Most of the punch embroidery done to date involves punching a design including the background. Totally punching a project like this creates a nice dense rug like project.
Recent changes in punch needles allows for easy contouring of designs. This allows for just portions of the designs to be punched so they blend with the background fabric. This freedom shows off the texture and sculpture of the punched areas.
Coneflower Impressions is the first in a series of designs made using this combination of embroidery techniques.
